One of my favorite comedians, Chonda Pierce, posted this on her facebook. It spoke so directly to my heart, and the past year our family had, that I knew I needed to share it with you. I hope it encourages you.

I have sat and stared at the computer to write some kind of profound and enlightening post to you for New Years Eve. But honestly, I got nothing. I end the year alone pushing myself toward hope and remind myself there is someone in this world that loves me. (Besides Glynda Maxey who shows up with Champagne and KFC!!!) But I ask you… is there anything better!!? 2018 was one of those years that stretched me, engulfed me and simply kept me breathing. I have so much to be grateful for, I really do. Yet for those who grieve for lost loved ones, wayward children – the deep loneliness rings so loudly in your ears that you can barely hear the fireworks. Here is what I learned in 2018.. not everyone you reach out to will reach back. There are “takers.” Some will appreciate you. Some will love you through your dysfunction. Some will teach you. Some will stretch you. And some will show up with fake champagne and KFC! Nevertheless… there is Jesus. There is nothing. Absolutely NO thing, NO person, NO accolade, NO grief, NO goal, NO relationship and NO joy that can compare to life with Jesus. It won’t be popular. It won’t be easy. It won’t be the greatest “fun”.. but HE will bring you the greatest peace. And PEACE.. it’s my dearest gift in 2018 and dearest wish for you all in 2019. Happy New Year my dear friends.
